What activities will there be? … The million dollar question!…and the answer is…absolutely anything that fits under the ‘umbrella’ of Arts.
To whet your appetite……….. here is a selection but it is not exhaustive and if you have any other ideas we would love to hear from you…… just e-mail and we will keep your suggestions on file for consideration when we draw up our programme of events, later in the year.
There will be a wide range of classes and courses reflecting all areas of art, music, culture and other studies.
Crafts
- Pottery, woodwork, traditional crook-making, bead-work, basket-making, patch-work, embroidery, tatting, paper craft, jewellery, glass painting, and taster multi-crafts, fly-tying and more.
Textiles
- Traditional sanquhar glove knitting, kilt making (other tartan products), knitting design, pattern making, weaving and dress making.
Art.
- Seedling artists (1-13 years!) Basic skills to professional level oils/ watercolour, drawing, calligraphy, digital art, animation, 3D work and sculpture.
Music
- Individual Tuition, traditional, classical, master classes, keyboard, recording technology, recitals, popular music, early music, singing, choirs and practice space.
Drama
- Classes, tutorials, master classes, rehearsals, technical theatre craft, performances and musicals.
Literature
- Writers group, tutorials, live readings, plays, children’s story telling, poetry and literature groups.
Activities
- Gallery (seats maximum of 50 adults), exhibitions, performances, recitals, seminars, debates, dance, functions, society and group meetings.
Heritage
- History of our building, history of sanquhar knitting, local heritage –drama, scots language/poetry, stoneage crafts and heritage exhibitions.
