In 2000, we held the first of many public meetings to discuss our ideas.
There was such widespread support, that the following year, we made the decision to hand-deliver a mail-shot to every home in Upper Nithsdale. Back came the answer loud and clear ……..
“Yes, we would welcome an Arts, Crafts and Cultural Centre for the people of Upper Nithsdale."
Many more meetings and discussions, combined with a positive result from a feasibility study funded by Scottish Enterprise, gave us the conviction and confidence to forge ahead with the project.
In April 2004, funding from the Scottish Land Fund and Coalfields Regeneration Trust enabled us to purchase the building.
Since then, our time has been and still is, fully occupied with funding applications , events and fundraising ……… the building still has to be insured even though we cannot use it!
Take a look at our Gallery link above ………… to see pictures of our building……. As it is now, the proposed changes and some of the events we have held.
