CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS - An Evening of Crime, Murder and Mystery!

Four of the most fiendish crime writers in Scotland will join us at A’ the Airts to reveal the secrets of their trade.

Caro Ramsay, Douglas Skelton, Michael J. Malone and Graham Smith will talk about their crime-writing careers, as well as answering all your questions. More Info HERE

SOUTH WEST PICTURE SHOW - A Sense of Place

To complement this year's theme of "Sense of Place", we are delighted to be offering two special screenings for Hallowe'en. Sanquhar has a strong tradition of storytelling and these films have been chosen to highlight the Crawick Witches which are part of our local folklore. More info HERE.

The Witches: Dark and witty retelling of Roald Dahl’s story about a young boy on a seaside holiday with his grandmother who stumbles upon a convention of witches. Storyteller Jean Edmonston will tell some tales before the film starts to get your spine tingling. Cert PG. 92 min.

The Witch: Set in 17th century New England, this exquisitely made and highly-acclaimed horror film brings together the age-old concepts of witchcraft, black magic and possession to tell the intimate and riveting story of one family's frightful unravelling.Cert 15.  93 min.

SILENT SPACE - DANCE IYAHAMI

Crossing the boundaries between traditional and contemporary Indian dance, Dance Ihayami presents its new compelling work exploring the power of voice and rhythm. Featuring original music by flautist Marion Kenny, Silent Space is set to be a spectacle of technical precision, striking geometry and evocative emotion. The performance will be followed by a short classical Indian dance workshop. Anyone is welcome to join in and try Bharatanatyam movements, hand gestures and facial expressions and find out more about classical Indian dance. More info HERE.
